my new obsession has come to astoria, ny! the best self serve frozen yogurt— after previously obsessing over red mango, where they do the serving, i am now coveting 16 handles. the newest franchise store has opened on 30th avenue. fill your cup and top it. just the way YOU like it. delicious and low fat options. and they are environmentally friendly too!
now don’t get me wrong, i still love red mango, but most locations are not self serve… you can’t pick more than a couple of flavors and you pay per toppings, as opposed to paying by the ounce.

last night my mother and i headed to seminar on broadway, the sexually provocative and laugh out loud dramatic comedy. this all-star cast of five left me in fits of laughter during all ninety minutes. tv stars, jeff goldblum, justin long, and jerry o’connell are joined by zoe lister-jones and hettinne park; who more than held their own while sparring throughout the show with the seasoned actors. if you love broadway and you’re looking for big laughs, check it out!

nyc welcomes the coffee bean and tea leaf.
i will sum it up by saying: amazing coffee and tea!
the west coast chain now has three locations in nyc. two on the west side of ny and one in brooklyn. although my bf might deny it, he and many others really enjoy the sugary ice blended drinks, while i enjoy the chai, teas and a few fun espresso drinks.

for those of you who have not heard of or had sprinkles cupcakes. two words. delicious and creative. two more words. try them.
for those of you who have not heard of the sprinkles cupcake atm in beverly hills, i snapped a quick shot when in LA a few weeks ago.
i showed a lot of restraint by only viewing and not eating. the tourist purchasing in my shot did not show such restraint and ordered two.

in the last year, Kickshaw and Queens Comfort have caused many an Astorian to gain a pound or ten… the road there was delicious…
in the past few months i checked out both of these joints in my ‘hood.
first up- Kickshaw. in addition to a full espresso bar, craft beer and anything but your mom’s grilled cheese, with delicious side options of tomato soup, salad and kick ass cole slaw. my snack pick is the miso-mustard pickles! yum.
next- Queens Comfort. i sampled the pulled pork sandwich, in addition to sharing the leek mac and cheese and the disco tots with friends. for dessert we shared a variety of desserts including the bread pudding. at the time there were different offerings than are currently listed on their website, but damn they were good.
both establishments were amazing. obviously, neither are places to go when you are on a diet.
